Original Blockhead "J" puppet with Wooden crate prop. Signed by Gumbys late creator Art Clokey. The Blockhead is a Humanoid red clay puppet, the details include a yellow "J" on each side of his cubed head, resin eyes, with a yellow clay nose and mouth all built on a metal wire armature. He was trapped in this wooden crate that is made of thin wooden slats.

Art Clokey's signature is signed on the bottom side of the crate. Blockheads "J" and "G" are the main antagonist of Gumby and friends. Puppet and wood crate were created in the late 80s.

Not many Original Screen Used Blockhead puppets exist today especially with and accessory prop used in the same exact scene if they do exist it is nearly impossible to match them as well as this prop is. This Prop puppet has been cared for in the Comisar Collection which is the Museum of TV which is why it is still in incredible production used condition for its age. Note, there is slight separation under the arm as well as the head turns back and forth on the metal armature but stays in place when not being moved. Please see all pictures for details.

This is a genuine Museum quality piece. Gumby and the Blockheads are very noticeable Iconic characters that everyone loves. Gumby was first introduced in 1955 on the Howdy Doody show. Gumbys own show first aired in 1957 and ran through 1969.

Art Clokey wanted to pass his craft to newer generations and helped teach many individuals that created their own films today. Many of the artist that worked on Tim Burtons Nightmare Before Christmas worked with Art Clokey and were inspired by their work and teachings from him. Art Clokey had passed away in 2010 and his son Joe more recently in March of 2018.
