Kubo and the Two Strings. Face Box Prop Screen Used. From the archives of LAIKA, this authentic Kubo replacement animation face was screen-used in LAIKA's Oscar nominated stop-motion feature. Each handcrafted bamboo box contains one color 3D printed "split-face" created with LAIKA's award winning Rapid Prototype process.

Each face includes rare earth registration magnets plus LAIKA's proprietary inventory code. I bought my Kubo replacement face at the Portland Art Museum when they had the Laika exhibit a few years ago. I had a piece of thick plexi custom cut to fit inside the slot on the front (see photos). This allows the face to be enjoyed and on display without being exposed with an open front. I also think it makes it look a bit nicer on display, too!

This piece of Plexi just slides in and out of the slot, nothing changing this face or its display's original condition. Note that the condition is as new. See photos which are of this actual face. It has been gently on display, and the actual face has been behind an acrylic cover while on display. One thing to note is that the glue they used to to adhere has not glued the eye down since I took it home from the Portland Art Museum.

It rolls within its socket, allowing the iris and pupil look up down, left and right. I actually thought this was intentional!

It would be easy to add a drop of glue to get it stick, but thought the new owner should make that decision. A great piece of stop-motion film history you can own. This is beyond my control. I have no control of that and cannot remove it. The item "Kubo and the Two Strings LAIKA Studios Face Prop Screen-Used" is in sale since Saturday, August 22, 2020.
