At home in such diverse media as the monumental scale ceramic mural and tapestry, Vasarely is primarily a designer of paintings and graphics.

He was born in Pecs, Hungary in 1908, and studied at the Budapest Bauhaus. Among the numerous collections which include his work at the Guggenheim Museum, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Tate Gallery, London and the Musee d'Art Moderne, Paris.
